HAPPY FRIDAY

11.12.21

Happy Friday | 11.12.21

November 12, 2021

Ha, if I thought missing one week was bad - here we are, a month later! It’s almost like being back to work full time and being a mom is a lot haha. I wouldn’t change it for the world, but what I do in my spare time has had to pivot. We’re having a blast with our new roles, and Gene is already going to be 6 months old next week! We’ve started solids and he’s days away from crawling.

What are you up to this weekend? xo

// Maybe I’m just hormonal, but this made me tear up! Are You Friends With Any Older Women? Being the oldest child on all sides of my family by 4 years, I have always gravitated towards older folks, and it warms my heart to think about being one of these older women chatting away eating cookies with younger friends.

// I am HERE for this haha Paul Rudd, Sexiest Man

// I made this romesco sauce recently and I think it’s going to be added the rotation!

// Love myself a celeb photo gallery - 40 Celebrity Mothers And Daughters At The Same Age

// We just bought Gene this puffer (in slate blue) and I can’t wait to see him all bundled up! Too cute.

// I am absolutely into the week of #soupdoup recipes from Fit Foodie Finds. I am eying this soup for next week.

Welp, I’m still getting back into the habit of posting, so apologies for missing a week AGAIN ha. We spent some time up in NH last weekend enjoying the changing leaves, and are seeing some family this weekend. It feels nice to slow down a bit with the cooler weather. Cozy season is almost upon us!

October 1, 2021

Wow, only 1 week in and I already am back on my bullshit and forgetting to post, ha! So, happy first day of October! I got little Eugene dressed up for the occasion :) We’ve had some pretty rough weekends with Gene starting daycare and us getting sick, so we’re praying for an uneventful and relaxed few days off. What are you up to? xo

HAPPY FRIDAY

09.17.21

Happy Friday | 09.17.21

September 17, 2021

Happy Friday! Week 2 of “regular” life under our belts (me back at work & Gene at daycare), but hoping this weekend shakes out better than the last (Curtis got food poisoning). It feels like a reset at least! And the weather is going to be beautiful.

We celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary with an amazing meal at Millwright’s in Simsbury. It was the first physical restaurant we’ve been to since the pandemic started, and we felt SO safe. We were able to make an outdoor reservation and were sat overlooking the beautiful waterfall in the river. Everything was incredible, but one of the desserts blew us away. It was a roasted almond semifreddo with a chocolate macaron base, topped with a coconut tuile and cherries. UNREAL.

How was your week? What are you up to this weekend? xo

// I’ve always loved cyanotypes and I recently came across an amazing artist doing cyanotype designs on clothing! I think I might have to give this a try sometime! I found a tutorial here.

// Fun fact about me, I love cultural/working songs like shanties, and recently learned about “Waulking Songs” which are Scottish work songs traditional sung in Gaelic by women waulking (or softening) fabrics. How cool is this song?! And funnily enough, I found this song back in May, and starting watching Outlander during my maternity leave and there is a scene where working women sing a waulking song while they work.

// I have been in the mood to bake something, and the cherry ricotta cake (above) looks amazing!

// Speaking of songs - these 2 are on repeat for me! gracias a la vida from Kacey Musgraves & The End. from November Ultra

Happy Monday | 05.17.21

May 17, 2021

Happy Monday! Welp baby boy is officially a full week late! Never in a million years would I have thought my baby would be late (seems like a lot of the babies in my family have been born early, or on time!) - but here we are! It’s not too bad though, just enjoying these last few days just the two of us. I can’t wait for scenes like above though…champagne and salami - yes please, it’s been awhile! What were you up to this weekend? xo

// The Lure Of New England a very sweet, short film from the 1940’s that just warms my New England heart :)

// Welp I found the most perfect bed quilt! And it made me realize that I tend to be drawn to a lot of Australian interior design and patterning - who knew that was my aesthetic?! I am eying this table cloth too!

// Have you guys heard of Mootsh, it’s a monthly photography printing service? I’m thinking I might try it for the 1st year of our little dude’s life! I love printed photos and this would just be so nice to have it all set up and ready to go <3

HAPPY FRIDAY

05.07.21

Happy Friday | 05.07.21

May 7, 2021

Happy Friday, friends!

Monday is my due date, so we’ll see if a baby arrives this weekend/early next week :) This is our potential last weekend as just the two of us, so we’re trying to keep that balance between prepping for baby and soaking in some alone time.

In dorky bird news, we had 2 new fun birds at our feeder today that we’d never seen before - the Brown Thrasher and White Crowned Sparrow. We love having our feeder and are hoping we get a Baltimore Oriole in the next few weeks!

// SUPER helpful video all about highlights/balayage and how to talk to your stylist about it. I find that when you search pinterest for balayage it’s a little misleading, and this was so informative! Watch This Before Getting Highlights

// I absolutely cannot afford this $145 pillow, but damn do I want it!

// I know things are a little tough to navigate out there regarding Covid vaccines and such, but this story from NPR was so helpful! We will have the added complication of having a newborn, so we’ll most likely be slightly more strict, but it’s so reassuring knowing most of our close friends and family will be fully vaccinated within the next few weeks.

// These masks are handmade and beautiful! I honestly don’t know if I could pick just one color combo!

// I recently discovered this great new boutique hotel in Providence, Dye House. We had such a great time staying at the Dean Hotel a few years ago, and will definitely have to check this place out!

*insert Justin Timberlake meme …it’s gonna be May*

Happy last day of April! It’s a milestone in our house, because our little one is due May 10th, so making it to May feels exciting - his birth month!! As you can expect, these next few weeks are just us soaking up our last moments are non-parents, and getting ourselves set up for baby boy. An exciting time :)

What are you up to this weekend? xo

Happy Friday, friends! I’m taking a 1/2 day at work today and I am pumped! It’s so hard to step away when you’re working from home, and with all of the craziness of covid, there aren’t many place open, or places I’d like to go, but we have a fun little afternoon planned (see below!). And now that we’re anywhere between 0-3 weeks away from having our little dude, our weekends are mainly prepping for baby! What are you up to? xo

// This afternoon I’m venturing on a little outdoor adventure with my husband and our friends and their son to check out this beautiful daffodil farm/field in Litchfield, CT - so excited! My mom and Oma’s favorite flower is the daffodil, so we’re big daffodil fans in this family lol loving the daffodils that @moniqueaimee has been drawing!

HAPPY FRIDAY

Happy Friday | 04.16.21

April 16, 2021

Hello hello, happy rainy Friday here in CT. It’s been an uneventful week personally, but as a nation we’re dealing with yet another cop involved shooting. It continuously breaks my heart and angers me to my core. I’m still finding the right words, but as someone who is going to be a mom soon, I just hope we can do better as a country. I am disappointed with so many facets of our society these days and I want my children to grow up in a place that’s better than this! I know there are many great people working tirelessly to try to change things, and I’m continuously looking for ways to donate/speak out to help make any bit of difference. I hope you are too. Have a great weekend xo

HAPPY FRIDAY

04.09.21

Happy Friday | 04.09.21

April 9, 2021

GUYS, my husband and I got our first vaccine doses!! What.a.relief!! The state/country/world are still struggling with more and more positive cases, so we’re nowhere near out of the woods yet, but to be able to know that I’m *hopefully* creating some antibodies for myself and my little one is the best feeling. Before our baby is born, both of our parents and my grandma will be fully vaccinated and that’s the most important part for us! We want them to be able to spend time with him, and selfishly, help us out if we need it. Someone mentioned to me in December how wonderful it is to have a Spring baby, and I’m starting to see what they mean! The sun is out longer, the trees and flowers are starting to bloom, the weather is getting better - and soon we’ll have a new little family member :)

April 2, 2021

How is it already Easter weekend?! I’m bummed to be missing out on year 3 of our family Easter :( I had foot surgery 2 years ago, and here we are on year 2 of covid. But on the bright side - my husband and I both have our first vaccine shots early next week! WHAT A RELIEF. Both of our parents are almost fully vaccinated, and soon our friends will start to be as well. We’re not looking to jump back into normal life, but just being able to have help when the baby arrives, and have a movie night occasionally with friends will be such small joys. xo
